Event: John James Audubon – American Ornithologist

Baila Miller will discuss John James Audubon’s contributions to our culture and natural history. Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. He is noted for his studies documenting many species of indigenous animals, but is most famous for his detailed illustrations of birds in their natural habitats. His major work, The Birds of America, includes 435 magnificent color-plated images. He devoted 12 years of his life to this venture and it is considered to be the finest ornithological work ever completed by an artist.
