Event: The Rare Species Conservatory Foundation’s Landmark Projects

The Florida Grasshopper Sparrow’s disappearance from the wild within the next few years has become a virtual certainty unless aggressive conservation measures prove successful. Dr. Paul Reillo, of the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, will present the rationale and design for a Florida Grasshopper Sparrow captive-breeding program, which offers the only practical hedge against its extinction, and will discuss other flagship-species recovery efforts to save the endangered Brazilian Amazon Parrots and Kenya’s Mountain Bongo Antelope.

When: The social period begins at 6 p.m. and the general meeting and program follow at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Venice Audubon Center at Annex Road behind the R. L. Anderson Administration Building, Venice, FL

Everyone is welcome!
