Use eBird
When you visit the Venice Rookery, we encourage you to use the eBird online database. A project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, eBird is an innovative tool that transforms your bird sightings into science and conservation. All you need to do is create an account and enter your bird lists from a phone app or on your computer. Birding "hotspots" are identified using data from eBird user's sightings. Injured, Sick or Orphaned Animal?
If you find an injured, sick or orphaned animal, the Wildlife Center of Southwest Florida's website has recommendations about what to do next. They are committed to the preservation, rescue, and rehabilitation of wildlife in our local community and are a State and Federally permitted facility.

Birds of Prey Rehabilitation

Children's Book from a VAAS Member: A Tale of a Tern
Dr. Mary Lundeberg, former Professor and Chair of the Education Department at Michigan State University, is an award-winning author and nature photographer who lives in Englewood.
