Read the book and join the in-person Book Club discussion on the 2nd Monday of the month.
The September selection, Nursery Earth: The Hidden World of Baby Animals and the Amazing Ingenuity of Life, is written by Danna Staaf. The book can be purchased online and in bookstores.
Dr. Staaf brings the importance of baby animals in their own ecosystems and the overall biological workings of the world to readers through an understanding of developmental biology. Marine life, insects, birds and mammals may be cute, adorable creatures, but their life processes of coming to life and fulfilling essential connections with their own and other species is integral to the success of nature's balance. Recent research advancements illuminate amazing stories of survival for many species, especially as they confront environmental and climate changes. The book takes readers on an enjoyable tour of many baby animals with lots of "wow" moments along the way.
