A Walk in the Park, The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon by Kevin Fedarko recounts the author's consideration of a possible career change with a year-long hike through the Grand Canyon, having been invited by his best friend, National Geographic photographer Pete McBride. 

It was hot.  It was harrowing.  It was filled with rookie mistakes that were almost life-ending.  It was filled with possibly too much "nature".  It was even funny at times.  Thankfully Kevin and Pete were shepherded by a group of whitewater river guides to ensure they actually survived.  Join the adventure from the comfort of wherever you are and by the end you might even be saying, "better them than me" on this journey.
